Phenylpropionate is an interesting drug because it has a powerful anabolic effect, yet is not known as being that effective. It is a nandrolone steroid that is four times more anabolic than it is androgenic. It is a fast-acting and fast-leaving steroid, which gives results quickly to the user and also leaves the body quickly as well. It’s short half-life in the body makes it a good drug for athletes who want to avoid water retention and its less androgenic nature makes it favorite among female athletes because it is less likely to cause male characteristics. Phenylpropionate is also a favorite because it increases red blood cells in the body, giving muscles more oxygen for longer workouts. It also increases aggression for a short period of time, which makes workouts more intense.
Because the phenylpropionate ester has such a short half-life in the body, users must inject the drug quite frequently for positive results. A 50 to 100 mg injection every two to three days, equaling 150 to 300 mg/week, is the recommended dosage for serious athletes.
Because phenylpropionate has a low rate of aromatization, it has less risk of side effects like gynocomastia. And female athletes have less risk of developing male characteristics because of the drug’s low androgenic rate.
However, there are some side effects that are associated with using phenylpropionate, including acne, aggression, insomnia, diarrhea and bladder problems. Also, serious problems like testicular atrophy and impotence may occur. Overuse may cause the body’s natural production of testosterone to shut down as well.
Phenylpropionate is not very available on the black market and is relatively expensive because of it. Three ampules of 25 mg cost between $25 and $35 each. It is available in 25 mg/ml, 5 ml vials and 50 mg/ml in two vials.
Phenylpropionate has been used to combat the wasting of muscles due to diseases like AIDS. It has also been used to combat blood diseases such as anemia. In rats, nandrolone phenylpropionate has shown to increase fibroblast production after injury.
